About Us

The Mayflower Students' Second Home Hostels Past, Present and Future

Back in 1976, Tai and Sheila Solarin coined the term “Students' Second Home” as their assigned name for the dormitories they constructed to house students attending the nearby Mayflower School, which that same year became a government school, precisely 20 years after the school's founding by Tai and Sheila Solarin. Between 1976 and 2009, the Students Second Home hostels lodged and academically tutored several generations of Mayflower Government School students, thanks to the tradition of offering those student boarders optional extra lessons to enhance their academic performance.

The Students' Second Home Hostel is now reopened, and is once again offering the tremendous benefits enjoyed in the past by thousands of Mayflower students over several generations spanning 1976 to 2009.
